You Wouldn’t Know A Good Man If You Saw One

By Ka’Mili Grayson

Reviewed By Tiffany Jackson

What makes a good man? Would you know a good man if he presented himself to you? How would you know if he was really God sent? These are a few questions that the characters in Ka’Mili Grayson’s first novel, You Wouldn’t Know A Good Man If You Saw One are faced with. The book is a compilation of love, spirituality, drama and more drama. It has many jaw-dropping episodes. The more you read, the more you want to continue reading until you reach the end of your journey; oops no I mean the end of the main character’s journey.  This story is one that many women across America and across all racial color lines can relate to. One may find a piece of their own lives entwined in one of the characters almost like a reflection from a mirror. It is one that is so surreal.

From beginning to end, the reader will become drawn in to Terri, the main character who encounters many struggles, heartache and pain. But through it all her faith in God remains strong and never falters.

Ka’Mili also uses other characters to create a better picture into the life of not only Terri but the other characters as well. She does a magnificent job of describing them through their dialect and attire. It is almost un-believable that this is Ka’Mili’s first novel. She has recently turned the novel into a stage play. It has received great success at Dallas’ The Black Academy of Arts and Letters and it will be shown on June 27th at 12 noon at Studio Movie Grill in Addison.  Also, she has plans for showcasing the play/novel in other cites. This book is definitely a must-read.
